2. Review ethical considerations and framework.

4. Draw implications for actions towards a contemporary approach of the advocacy dilemma to support Health Equity and the growth of the Interpreter’s profession.
Presenter Bios
Gustavo Negrete is the current Chair of the NBCMI and had previously served as the Sectary of the National Board. He is President and CEO of a micro interpreting and translation company and is the new managing director of TransInterpreting. He is a Certified HIPAA Privacy Expert and has over twenty years of experience in health care having served in several clinical roles and departments prior to becoming an interpreter. He is a staunch advocate for language access, LEP rights and the interpreting profession as an active participant in organizations who lobby and or promote these causes.
Luz Doynel-Thompson is chair of the Conference Committee of the National Board of Certification for Medical Interpreters. She currently works in the ER of the Children’s Hospital in Los Angeles, California. Luz is an experienced interpreter specializing in medical, conferences, community, legal, and immigration interpreting. She also specializes in English<>Spanish translations. She is a Certified Medical Interpreter in Spanish by NBCMI and CCHI, and (CMI-HUB) in Portuguese by NBCMI. Luz holds an MBA in Foreign Trade from IE/EXEC/UFRJ in Brazil and has completed all the training offered by the prestigious Southern California School of Interpretation.
