Description

While interpreters should optimally have training in how genetics is applied in all areas of medicine, this 6-hour training will focus specifically on prenatal genetics. It covers basic concepts in genetics, prenatal genetic testing, the work of the genetic counselor and a variety of genetic conditions. Vocabulary exercises are complemented with a bilingual glossary of terms available in Spanish, Vietnamese, Arabic and Traditional Chinese, and the course concludes with practice interpreting exercises based on dialogues. This course, designed by Cynthia Roat, is for interpreters who have already received basic training.
